Meeting of the Standing Committee on Communications held today

Islamabad, the 12th January, 2017: The meeting of the Standing Committee on Communications held today in the Committee room of Parliament House, Islamabad, to consider the detail budgetary proposals relating to Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the year 2017-18 of Ministry of Communication, Pakistan Post Office Department, National Transport Research Center, Construction Technology Training Institute and National Highways and Motorway Police. The Meeting was presided over by Mr. Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi, MNA.
2. The Committee expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of National Transport Research Center (NTRC) and directed to make it viable in terms of challenges coming in the shape of C-PEC.
3. The Committee discussed the development projects of Pakistan Post Office for inclusion in P.S.D.P of Ministry of Communications for the year 2017-18 in detail. The Committee directed that rural and remote areas must be focused by the Pakistan Post Office in terms of the provision of quality services.
4. The Committee also discussed the budgetary proposals for the National Highways and Motorway Police. The approved and upcoming PSDP projects were considered in detail. The Committee directed that the strength of the Motorway Police on the Karachi-Haydrabad-Sukker section might be increased for the better management of traffic and control of accidents.
5. The Committee recommended that the revised PC-I of the Green Line Karachi Project might be approved on priority basis for the timely completion.
6. MNAs Mr. Sarzameen, Chaudhry Khalid Javaid Warraich, Ms. Maiza Hameed, Dr. Darshan, Mr. Najaf Abbas Sial, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Mr. Salim Rehman, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq- Khalil, Molana Qamar ud Din, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, Ms. Naseema Hafeez Panezai, Engr. Usman Khan Tarakai, Ms. Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio and officials of the M/o Communications attended the meeting.
