NA Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication Meets

Islamabad, 10th January 2017: The 23rd meeting of the Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication was held under the Chairmanship of Capt. (Retd) Muhammad Safdar, MNA.

2.      The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee welcomed a newly elected Member of the National Assembly Ch. Muhammad Tufail as a Member of the Committee. Thereafter, the Committee decided to proceed with the agenda. The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 26th September, 2016.

3.       The Managing Director, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) & Chief Executive Officer, National I.C.T Research and Development Fund briefed the Committee about their performance. The Committee showed its deep interest in the both briefings and recommended that we should meet international standard in I.T and Telecom Sector. Further, the Committee directed the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to get performance report of the Commercial Consulars posted in Pakistani Embassies abroad from the last two years pertaining to I.T Sector.

4.     The Committee dissolved its already constituted Sub-Committee under the Convenership of Ms. Shazia Marri, MNA/Member. Consequently, the Committee constituted another Sub-Committee under the Convenership of Ms. Farhana Qamar, MNA/Member.

5.      The Hon. MNAs/Member Major (Retd) Tahir Iqbal, Mian Muhammad Farooq, Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad, Ms. Farhana Qamar, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Ms. Shazia Farid, Mr. Amjid Ali Khan, Engineer Dawar Khan Kundi, Syed Ali Raza Abidi and Ch. Muhammad Tufail attended the meeting besides the senior officers from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, PSEB and National I.C.T Research and Development Fund with their staff.
