Peaceful Settlement of Kashmir in accordance with aspirations of Kashmir people: Imperative for peace and development of the Region: Speaker NA

Islamabad, October 21, 2016: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that the peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people was imperative for the peace and development of the region. He said that Pakistan would extend its unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support to the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their unalienable right of self-determination, as enshrined in the UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions. According to the message received from London, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said this while briefing the British MPs on blatant violation of UN Resolutions by Indian armed Forces and use of pellet guns on innocent Kashmiris in Indian held Kashmir. Lord Nazir Ahmed, Lord Qurban Hussain and numbers of British MPs were also present on the occasion.

He added that heart wrenching accounts of the plight of innocent Kashmiri women and children in the face of vicious brutality inflicted on them by Indian security forces has left us speechless. He said that such barbaric acts perpetrated on innocent Kashmiris by Indian armed forces surmount to breech of all local and international human rights doctrines.

The Speaker said that Pakistan remains firmly committed to finding a just and peaceful solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the People of Kashmir. He assured the Kashmiri People, of Pakistan's continued moral, political and diplomatic support at all regional and international forums till realization of their objective.

He said that all Parliamentary parties in Pakistan are united in their support for the Kashmir cause, as being strongly reiterated in the recent Joint Sitting of the Parliament. He informed the British MPs that both houses of the Parliament have passed more than half a dozen resolutions to strongly denounce the reprehensible acts of unprecedented state terrorism by Indian forces in the occupied Valley.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called upon the United Nations and International Community to play their due role in brining and end to the repression, violence and human rights violations being committed against the people of Kashmir.

While concluding, he urged the international community to take notice of the deteriorating situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir and seek condemnation of the Indian brutalities at the highest level. The Speaker called on India to end the inhumane repression as early as possible and resolve the issue in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions, which allow Kashmiris to exercise their right of self-determination under a UN supervised plebiscite.
