Standing Committee on Law and Justice Met Today

Islamabad, the 5th October, 2016:   The Standing Committee on Law and Justice met today under the Chairmanship of Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, MNA in the Parliament House, Islamabad to consider The Pakistan Commissions of Inquiry Bill, 2016, The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 224A] (Moved by Mr. Muhammad Muzamil Qureshi, MNA), The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 77] (Moved by Mr.Sajid Ahmed, MNA), The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 106] (Moved by Ms. Asiya Nasir, MNA) and The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 51, in clause (6)] (Moved by Ms.Asiya Nasir, MNA).

2. The Committee recommended to approve the Pakistan Commissions of Inquiry Bill, 2016 with the object to make the Commission more powerful conferring the powers under Code of Civil Procedure and Criminal Procedure Code. Moreover, the protection of action taken in good faith to the Commission or any member had also been given under the law.

3. The meeting was attended by MNAs Chaudhary Muhammad Ashraf, Mr. Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha, Mr. Muhammad Moeen Wattoo, Sardar Muhammad Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa, Ms. Kiran Haider, Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar, Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli, Mr. Rajab Ali Khan Baloch and Mr. S.A Iqbal Quadri. Mr. Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi, MNA/Mover of the Bill and Mr.Zahid Hamid, Minister for Law and Justice were also present in the meeting.
