NA Standing Committee on Textile Industry met today

Islamabad, 27th September, 2016: A meeting of the Standing Committee on Textile Industry was held today in Committee Room No. 7, (4th Floor), Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, MNA. The Committee discussed the following Agenda:-

i)                   Presentation of the Sub-Committee Report to the main Committee on the issue of Value Added Textile Association.

ii)                 Detailed briefing on Plastics Technology Centre (PTC).

iii)              Implementation status of recommendations made during the meeting of this Committee held on 2nd June, 2015, regarding Cotton Intervention Price.

2.         The Agenda item no. 1 mentioned above, was deferred by the Committee as the Hon. Convener of the Sub-committee concerned could not present his report.

3.         The Director PTC briefed the Committee in detail about the issues being faced by his organization, referred to in Agenda No. ii mentioned above. The Committee, in response, assured its full support to resolve all its issues. Therefore, in order to find a better solution of the issue the Committee directed the Secretary Textile Industry to personally visit the PTC. Consequent upon submission of the report of the Secretary, the Committee will visit the PTC at a later stage. Further, in this regard, the Committee directed the Director PTC to take all stakeholders on-board and consider their recommendations.

4.         The Committee deferred the Agenda item no. iii till its next meeting. In which, the representatives of other important divisions like, Food Security and Research, Finance, Commerce, TCP, and Agriculture Departments of Sindh and the Punjab.

The following members of the Committee attended the meeting; Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Col. (Retd.) Dr. Amirullah Marwat, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, and Malik Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, MNAs.
