NA Standing Committee on Water and Power met today

Islamabad, 21st September, 2016: Standing Committee on Water and Power met under the Chairmanship of Muhammad Arshad Khan Leghari, MNA to discuss the following Agenda:-
 

i)                    Confirmation of minutes of the meeting held on 25-07-2016.

ii)                  Presentation of the report of the Sub-Committee constituted on the issue of performance of DISCOs of Sindh;

iii)                Comprehensive briefing on Indus River System Authority (IRSA);

iv)                 Ministry to brief the Committee on all types of energy development Schemes/Projects (Hydel, Solar, Wind, Coal etc) underway in the country.

v)                   Comprehensive briefing by the Alternative Energy Development Board on the projects under taken by the Board from 2013 to enhance the production of electricity in the country, their date of commencement, present status and expected date of completion.

vi)                 Present status of development Projects/Schemes of National Transmission Dispatch Company (NTDC).

The Committee adopted the Report of the sub-committee on “the performance of Disco’s of Sindh” and expressed its concern over the non-cooperative attitude of the HESCO & SEPCO. The Committee directed the ministry to address the issues of sub-committee and submit its compliance report within 15 days.

The Committee also constituted a sub-committee on the issues pertaining to HESCO and SEPCO with following composition.

ii)                  Ghulam Mustafa Shah                                                                    Member

iii)                Syed Kazim Ali Shah                                                                       Member

iv)                 Syed Muhammad Waseem                                                           Member

The Minister took notice of the Forced Load-shedding of electricity in some DISCOs and directed the management to report the Committee regarding the matter and also ensure the Committee that strict action should be taken against the responsible. The Committee also directed the Ministry to eliminate the factor of overbilling in order to facilitate the individual consumer.

The Committee directed the management of IRSA to give approved share of water to each province in order to escape the element of discrimination amongst the provinces.

The Committee was briefly apprised the Committee about different power projects of (Hydel, Solar, Wind, Coal etc) which was initiated by the present Government to overcome the shortfall of the electricity. The Committee directed the ministry to complete their ongoing projects within stipulated time period.

Sahi, Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar, Rana Afzaal Hussain, Rana Muhammad Ishaq Khan, Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur, Malik Ghulam Rabbani Khar, Mr. Junaid Akbar, Mr. Salim Rehman, Syed Waseem Hussain, Maulana Muhammad Gohar Shah, Syed Kazim Ali Shah and Dr. Syed Ghazi Ghulab Jamal attended the meeting, besides officials of the Ministry.
