Islamabad, July 01^st 2016; 8^th meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Babar Nawaz Khan, MNA.

2.  The meeting started with the recitation from Holy Quran. Then the Committee decided to proceed with the given agenda.

3.  Agenda Item No. i; “Confirmation of minutes of last meeting held on 27-06-2016”. The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 27-06-2016.

4.  Agenda item No. ii; “Steps taken by Human Organ Transplant Authority (HOTA) to stop illegal sale of purchase of Human Organs”.

The Committee disused the agenda item No. ii and observed that illegal organ transplant activities are due to lack of law its proper implementation and bad Governance. The Committee directed the Ministry be made amendments in existing laws to make them authentic and strict, so that we could prevent these activities and we also look into that why the peoples became ready to sale their body organs easily. Then, the Committee decided to take up this agenda in next meeting and will call the stake holders for getting their opinions in this regards but with the mutual understanding of the Hon. Members of this Committee.       

5.  Agenda item No. iii; “Steps taken against the Street Beggers”. 

The Committee discussed agenda item No. iii, all the Hon. Members/Special Invitees exchanged their views about under age beggers and transgender. Further, the Ministry of Human Rights told the Committee that the relevant rule is under consideration. The committee decided to take this issue in the next meeting.

6.  The Hon. MNAs being Members Begum Tahira Bukhari, Ms. Phyllis Azeem, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Ms. Kiran Haider, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Musarat Rafique Mahesar, Mr. Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Ms. Aliya Kamran Murtaza, Mrs. Naseema Hafeez Panezai and two Special Invitees Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Ms. Rumina Khurshid Alam were attended the meeting besides the Secretary, Human Rights and Secretary, CADD with their relevant staff.
