Islamabad May 2, 2016: Meeting of the Standing Committee on Housing and Works was held in Parliament House, this afternoon under the chairmanship of Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari.

The Committee while discussing the illegal construction/ encroachments in sector G-13 & G-14 and F-14 & F-15, directed the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) to initiate necessary legal proceedings against the illegal encroachments in sectors under its control. The Committee expressed its dissatisfaction on the pace of action against the encroachers. The Committee directed for action against non-conforming use of property in above mentioned sectors.

Director General, FEGHS assured that the directions of the Committee would be complied with and the progress would be presented to the Committee in its next meeting. He further informed that FEGHS does not possess enforcement capacity however, recently the foundation had employed guards to check illegal encroachment in the sectors. He informed that FEGHS had already initiated legal proceedings against illegal construction, encroachments and non-conforming use of property in sectors under its control.

The Committee while discussing the issues pertaining to Federal Lodges, Islamabad and provincial capitals, directed for allocation of substantial funds for maintenance of the lodges. The Committee was of the view that the federal lodges were in dilapidated condition and were in dire need of maintenance. The Committee also directed the Pakistan Public Works Department to allocate funds for installation of tube well in Federal Lodges, Quetta.

The meeting was attended by MNAs;   Rana Zahid Hussain Khan, Ms. Tahira Aurangzeb,  Ms. Khalida Mansoor,  Ms. Nighat Parveen Mir, Mr. Sajid Nawaz Khan,  Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Mr. Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan,  Secretary M/o Housing & Works and other senior officers of the concerned departments.
