NA Acting Speaker Expressed Displeasure Over FECHS’ Delaying Tactics In Handing Over Plots To The NA Employees

Islamabad; October 29, 2015: Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi has expressed his displeasure over delaying tactics in handing over the possession of plots to the National Assembly Secretariat employees by the Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Society (FECHS). He directed the FECHS management to transfer 226 plots to the employees before 31st October, 2015 and remaining ones before 31st December, 2015. He said that FECHS management has failed to fulfill its commitment made in meeting of the House and Library Committee held in September 10, 2015. The National Assembly Standing Committee on House & Library met in Parliament House, today under chairmanship of Acting Speaker.

The President and management of FECHS, Islamabad had assured the committee in its previous meetings that the possession of 287 plots out of 1093 would be handed over to the employees who had deposited the full payment of land before October 31st, 2015. The management had also committed to handover the remaining plots before December 31st, 2015.

The Acting Speaker said that the FECHS management has disappointed the August Committee by not abiding to its own commitment and put the matter in abeyance. He added that the continuous lethargic behavior on the management’s part has resulted into embarrassment of the committee before the employees. He said that this matter has been lingering on since 1988 and despite, the deposition of savings of the employees; they have not got the possession of plots. He made clear that no one would be allowed to deprive the employees of their life-long savings.

The Acting Speaker asked the President of FECHS to take every possible measure to honour his commitment by ensuring implementation of the directions of the Committee within the given time. He also showed his displeasure over transferring of funds of about 1700 plots instead of 1093 plots by the NACHS Administrator to the FECHS management. He directed the ICT management to strictly monitor the process.

Later, the FECHS President apprised the committee about the development work being carried out in the society. He said that 226 plots have been developed and were ready for possession. Moreover, he assured the committee that rest of the plots would be handed over to the employees after development within time prescribed by the Committee.
 
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mian Muhammad Rasheed, Mr. Aqib Ullah Khan, Dr. Mahreen Razzak Bhutto, Molana Qamar ud Din, senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat and ICT administration
