Green Parliament Project Would Add A New Chapter To The Existing Cordial Relations Between Pakistan And China: Says NA Acting Speaker

Islamabad, October 1, 2015: Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi said that Pakistani and Chinese political leadership are determined to further strengthen all-weather and time-tested Pak-Chinese Friendship known to the world. He said that while chairing a high level meeting with Chinese delegation regarding Green Parliament Project at Parliament House, Islamabad today.

Acting Speaker said that establishment of 1-MW Solar Power Generation system by the Chinese Government is the first major project under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that reflects the continuation of Chinese resolve in supporting Pakistan in its socio-economic development. He said that this project would add a new chapter to the existing cordial relations between Pakistan and China. He praised the commitment and untiring efforts of China in this regard and said that Parliament of Pakistan would hold the distinction of being the first Parliament in the world to go green. He stressed the need for replicating the model in other government buildings to address the prevalent energy constraint. The Acting Speaker felicitated China on its National Day and expressed his wishes of continuous prosperity and development of China.

The Chinese delegates said that China attaches great importance to the maintenance of an extremely close and supportive relationship with Pakistan. They said that China-Pak Friendship is all-weather and solar power generation system for the Parliament of Pakistan would be a gift from China that will be a state-of-the-art development to be completed within shortest possible period and Chinese Embassy will take every measure to ensure the high quality of this project.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries including First and Second Commercial Secretaries from Chinese Embassy and Additional Secretary Economic Affair Divisions and officers of National Assembly Secretariat from Pakistan.
