Islamabad June 2, 2015: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has welcomed Mexican Government’s decision to reopen its diplomatic mission in Pakistan. He termed it a commendable initiative for strengthening bilateral and economic ties between both the countries. He was talking to Mr. Ulises Canchola, Ambassador of Mexico to Pakistan in a meeting in Parliament House, this afternoon.

The Speaker said that reopening of diplomatic mission of Mexico in Islamabad was a reiteration of Mexican government resolve to strengthen relations with Pakistan. He said that Pakistan also strongly desires to strengthen its parliamentary and economic ties with Mexico. He said that people to people contact and parliamentary interaction would help exploring more avenues of mutual cooperation. He asked the Ambassador to convey good wishes to his Mexican counterpart and his invitation to visit Pakistan along with a parliamentary delegation.

The Speaker suggested for arranging interaction between Pakistani and Mexican business communities through its Honorary Consulate in Pakistan to explore possibilities of cooperation and joint investment in meat processing, trade, manufacturing, power, infrastructure development and other various sectors. He said that Mexican investors could take advantage of immense potential in Pakistan besides contributing in economic development going to take place after the Pak-China economic corridor project takeoff.

Ambassador of Mexico Mr. Ulises Cancahola said that the purpose of his instant visit to Pakistan was to prepare grounds for reopening of Mexican Mission in Islamabad and to explore ways and means to enhance bilateral. He said that his government was keen in enhancing economic and parliamentary relations with Pakistan. He said that final date for reopening of Mexican Mission will be announced soon. He agreed that Pak-China Economic corridor would generate massive economic activity in Pakistan and Mexico would like to be part of that activity. He assured the Speaker that his sentiments would be conveyed to his counterpart.
