National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulatins and Coordination meets today

Karachi, the 13th April, 2015. A meeting of the Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination held today at 11:00 a.m. in the office of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS), Karachi under the Chairmanship of Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, MNA to analyze the working performance of the Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL), Karachi and meeting with Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA) to listen their issues/ problems relating to manufacturing of medicines.
 
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) apprised the Committee about the Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL)over the agenda. The committee showed their satisfaction over thefunction and performance of the laboratory. The Budget related and all other issues with regard to Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL)have been discussed in detail. To boost up the quality of medicines,the committee recommended that sophisticated machinery may be arrange in the Laboratory.
 
The Representative of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA) discussed their issues therefore the committee and requested that the pending cases with registration board may be decided at the earliest. They are of the view that Electricity and Gas may be provide to pharma industries as has been given to Textile industries and the Generators may be allowed to run over the gas also. The committee also directed that the quality of medicines may be maintained and discourage thesub-standard standard medicines. The companies and the officers involved in bad practices may be taken seriously.
 
The committee after through discussion with the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA) and the pharma Bureau asked them to mutually with concernses a report over their problems may be prepared and  submit the committee to resolve their issues.
 
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nisar Ahmad Jatt, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Ms Zuhra Wadood Fatemi , Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Chaudhery Muhammad Shabaz Babar, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Dr. Mahreen Razaque Bhatto, Dr. Muhammad Azhar Khan Jadoon and Mr. Abdul Qahar khan Wadan beside Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ofthe Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and their Officers.
