Islamabad, the 18th November, 2014:  15th meeting of the Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage was held today at 10:30 a.m. in Committee Room No.7, Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting was presided over by Ms. Marvi Memon, MNA/Chairperson of the Standing Committee.

The Standing Committee was briefed about the working and performance of Press Information (PID), Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) and Internal Publicity (IP) Wing of M/o Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage.

The Standing Committee directed the Ministry to improve the quality of press releases issued by the PID and also directed to improve the performance of Regional Offices of PID. The Committee recommended deputing more cameramen / reporters on the official foreign visits of the Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan for proper coverage and issuance of press releases timely.

The Standing Committee also directed the PID to provide the deadline for the completion of future plans of upgrading PID and the Committee will check the performance after two months. The Committee directed the Ministry to take steps for the improvement of security of Journalists.     

Mian Muhammad Farooq, Mr. Muhammad Tallal Chaudry, Mr. Waseem Akhtar Shaikh,  Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti,  Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Syed Amir Ali Shah Jamote and Ms.Naeema Kishwer Khan, MNAs attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the senior Officers of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage and its attached Departments.
