Ambassadors of Spain and Iraq separately call on Speaker NA

Islamabad: September 18, 2014; Mr. Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain and Dr. Rushdi Mahmood Al Ani, Ambassador of Republic of Iraq held separate meetings with Speaker, National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Parliament House, this evening. Wide range of issues including enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between Pakistan and their respective countries came under discussion.
 
 
Talking to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Mr. Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, the Speaker said that Spain is an important nation in the European Union and a friend of Pakistan. Pakistan attaches immense importance to Spain and wants to take the existing warm relations between the two countries to new heights through parliamentary and economic cooperation as well as people-to-people exchanges, he added. He also suggested for exploring other avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
 
The Ambassador of Spain Mr. Javier Carbajosa Sanchez said that Spain also desires to further cement ties with Pakistan. He said that Spain and Pakistan had been trading partners and collaborating in various fields. He agreed that people-to-people contact and frequent interaction between business communities and parliamentarians would be beneficial for both the nations.
 
While talking to the Ambassador of Republic of Iraq Dr. Rushdi Mahmood Al-Ani, the Speaker said that Pakistan and Iraq are intertwined in eternal bonds of religion, brotherhood and culture and give immense importance to its relations with Iraq. He said that the bonds of brotherhood could further be cemented through parliamentary friendship. He said that Pakistan would certainly like to take part in the development of Iraq by export of skilled and unskilled labour, medical doctors and engineers. He asked the Ambassador to explore the possibilities of joint ventures by Pakistani and Iraqi business communities in diverse fields i.e. agriculture, oil refining, industrial production, infrastructure development, education and health sectors.
 
The Ambassador of Iraq Dr. Rushdi Mahmood Al Ani, acknowledged the sentiments of the Speaker and said that Iraq also considers Pakistan one of its close friend and economic partner. He said that law and order situation in Iraq has largely improved and the government is actively pursuing the reconstruction and rehabilitation process. He said that his country is keen in importing human resource from Pakistan besides other industrial products, medical equipment and agricultural products.
