Islamabad: September 5, 2014; Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker National Assembly has said that the commemoration of September 6 revives our spirits and strengthens our determination to defend the country against all kinds of threats and to be always prepared for any sacrifice for its integrity and honor. In his message to nation on Defence Day, being celebrated today, the Speaker said that the Defence of Pakistan Day reminds the resolute courage of the people and the armed forces of Pakistan in thwarting the nefarious designs of the enemy, much superior in size and equipment. The demonstration of unswerving spirit and unflinching resolve to defend the motherland were the hallmark of all battles on land, sea and air, he said.

As Pakistan is moving towards a path of progress, the Speaker said the supreme sacrifices of these sons who laid down their lives for our prosperous tomorrow should always be remembered. The Speaker said that let us recall with pride and admiration the brave deeds of our Shaheeds and Ghazis who wrote an inspiring saga of courage and bravery in the skies of this region. We pay our special respect to those who are no longer with us to share their tales of glory.

The Speaker said that Pakistan is facing gigantic and myriad challenges and is passing through a critical period of history. Our security is challenged by multi-dimensional and multi-directional threats. He said that it is not the first time that our nation is confronted with serious challenges but the Pakistani Nation has always braced formidable challenges with unity and courage. The Speaker said that with the proverbial resilience of our people, we are destined to overcome the present challenges and will soon emerge as a stronger country.

“Our soldiers are our greatest asset as they not only offer their precious lives for fighting in battlefields but also remain prepared to undertake the responsibility of working as a cohesive force in very challenging situation, may it be horrifying earthquakes or the devastating floods,” the Speaker said.

He said that renew the pledge on this day to uphold the integrity, dignity, honour and sovereignty of the country at all cost. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the strength and vision to fulfill our obligations to the nation to the best of our abilities and in line with the expectations of the people of Pakistan!
