Youth Key Partner for Sustainable Development: Says NA Speaker

Islamabad: August 11, 2014; Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker National Assembly has said that the future of any country depends on the youth since active participation of educated young people plays vital role in development of the nation. He said this in his message on International Youth Day, to be observed on 12th August under the auspices of United Nations.
 
He said that young people have proven themselves to be key partners in sustainable development; therefore, they should be engaged by the governments and communities to formulate poverty reduction strategies, entrepreneurial schemes and many other policies and initiatives. The Speaker said that youth deserves our commitment for full access to education, adequate health care, employment opportunities, financial services and full participation in public life.
 
He said that the objectives behind the celebration of International Youth Day are to recognize the contributions of the youth in society’s development and to engage them in constructive activities. He said that this day provide us an opportunity to draw the attention of the world towards the youth issues.
 
“Let us all resolve on this day to invest in and protect our most valuable resource, and give young men and women a fair and full stake in our society and in its success” he added.
